  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss to coat and spread the mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.

Mixing the Topping

  • In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • Stir in the buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until just combined.

Baking

  • Pour the batter over the apples in the baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and baked through.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, possibly with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Apple Cobbler is best served warm right out of the oven. You can add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top for an extra treat. Store leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
