  • 4 large large apples Choose firm and slightly tart varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon For an extra flavor, consider adding nutmeg or ginger.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts Optional; walnuts or pecans work well.

Serving

  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream Optional but recommended for serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Core the apples and place them in a baking dish.
  • In a bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Mix in the melted butter until crumbly. Stir in nuts if using.
  • Stuff the mixture into the hollowed apples.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender.

Notes

Serve the baked apples warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can also sprinkle additional cinnamon or nuts on top for added flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
