Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Can substitute with granulated sugar and molasses.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Add one at a time.

Add-ins

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Use good-quality chocolate chips.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  • Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time.
  • Gradually blend in the flour mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
  • Let cool on the baking pan for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. For longer storage, freeze in freezer-safe bags for up to 3 months. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking produces thicker cookies.
