Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 box 14 oz box of vanilla wafers
  • 4 large ripe bananas, sliced Use ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 box 5 oz box of instant vanilla pudding mix Adjust the amount for a thicker or creamier texture.
  • 1 tub 8 oz tub of whipped cream Use store-bought whipped topping if short on time.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • optional additional vanilla wafers for garnish Optional for topping.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk and instant vanilla pudding mix. Whisk until smooth and let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream and vanilla extract into the pudding mixture until well combined.

Layering

  • In a large dish or trifle bowl, start layering. Begin with a layer of vanilla wafers.
  • Add a layer of sliced bananas on top of the wafers.
  • Pour a layer of the pudding mixture over the bananas.
  • Repeat the layers until you use all the ingredients, finishing with a layer of the pudding mix on top.
  • Crush some additional vanilla wafers and sprinkle them over the top for garnish.

Refrigeration

  • Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible.

Notes

To keep your banana pudding fresh, store it in the refrigerator covered tightly. Best enjoyed within 2-3 days as the bananas may brown over time.
