Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature butter for better mixing.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Chocolate Chips

  • 2 cups chocolate chips You can use dark or white chocolate chips for variation.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  • Cool on the cookie sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies are best enjoyed warm, right out of the oven. To keep them fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer then transfer to a freezer-safe bag or container for up to three months.
