Ingredients
  

Apple mixture

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
  • ½ cup brown sugar for the apple mixture
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon for the apple mixture

Oat topping

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup brown sugar remaining for oat topping
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon remaining for oat topping

Serving suggestion

  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream optional, for serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with ½ cup of brown sugar and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. Spread the apple mixture in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, salt, and the rest of the cinnamon.
  • Pour the melted butter into the oat mixture and stir until it is evenly combined.
  • Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake the apple crisp in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a bit before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples. You can also add chopped nuts for extra crunch or different spices for a unique taste.
