Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce Can substitute with gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free option.
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes Adjust to taste.

Garnish

  • Green onions, chopped For garnish.
  • Sesame seeds For garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  • Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken in the pan, stirring to coat. Let it simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.

Serving

  • Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, then serve with rice.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider double frying the chicken. Fry it once, remove it from the pan, and then fry it again after coating it in the sauce. Marinating the chicken in soy sauce for about 30 minutes before cooking can enhance flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
