Ingredients
  

For the apple filling

  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced A mix of sweet and tart apples is recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the topping

  • 1 cup gluten-free oats
  • 1 cup almond flour Can substitute with other gluten-free flours.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Can substitute with coconut oil for a vegan version.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation and Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with lemon juice and cinnamon, then place them in a greased baking dish.
  • In another bowl, combine the gluten-free oats, almond flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt until well mixed.
  • Spread the mixture evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Pairs well with chopped nuts for added texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
