  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 cup rolled oats Ensure oats are certified gluten-free if needed.
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Transfer the apple mixture to a baking dish.

Crumble Topping

  • In another bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and cubed butter. Mix until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden and the apples are tender.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve the apple crumble warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. To store leftover apple crumble, cover with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for up to three days. It can also be frozen for longer storage, thawing overnight in the fridge before reheating. For extra crunch, add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans to the crumble topping. Keep an eye on it while baking to prevent over-browning.
